Welcome!
I am so excited you're here, ready to check out the benefits of editing and the services I offer!
Mission
An editor molds the final impact of a piece of work at all stages of the publication process, affecting the author, company, and readers. As such, I strive to uphold specific values in my day-to-day responsibilities as an editor. Each of my values stems from the broader value of quality: quality through consistency, quality through reliability, and quality through presentation.
Quality Through Consistency:
Ensuring clarity and conciseness is critical in writing. So, as an editor, I ensure the correct, safe, and effective use of complex devices and systems is employed is imperative. Additionally, identifying the style and markers (i.e., references) the author is using to ensure they are constant produces consistency, warranting credibility and validity on behalf of the author and company. As such, I strive to be intentional in my use of stylistic tools and features.
Quality Through Reliability:
Reliability encompasses more on reader understandability and credibility in terms of reading level, providing the necessary information, and fact-checking. As an editor, I ensure the documents I work on include the information essential to the subject (the information readers are searching for), the information is factually correct, and the information is presented in a way that readers can understand. So, as an editor, I look for areas in the text that use uncommon words, undefined terms, and that have holes in the subject.
Quality Through Presentation:
To take the idea of quality and its relatedness to comprehension a step further, presentation is imperative. In technical, novel, and educational pieces, there can be an array of differing devices used to convey information that can make the material overwhelming. My role would be to make the presentation of these “oversaturated” pieces less chaotic in appearance and flow.

Alexandria Willbond
Technical, Developmental, and Acquisitions Editor based in Gainesville, FL
As a passionate and driven professional, I am always looking for ways to enhance my techniques, broaden my knowledge, and find new opportunities to grow. I have been able to use my talents to create impactful and powerful outcomes since the start of my career. I am proud of the work I do and the strong relationships I have built with my teams. I believe in hard work, good collaboration, and having fun along the way.
This portfolio reflects how my editing confidence has grown throughout my education at the University of Texas at Austin for my Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing, as well as at Texas Tech University for my Master of Arts in Technical Communication. During this time, I learned new editing styles, collected editing resources, and refined my design strategies. This portfolio will also exemplify the work I've already accomplished via my current work positions as a developmental and acquisitions editor at Inklings Publishing, a technical editor at the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), and as part of the board for the Houston Writer's Guild (HWG) as the communications director, by listing the books in which I was the primary or one of the primary editors.
